The pen is mightier than the sword, they say. Is it really the pen or is it the words being penned? A simple combination of letters; hence, words that encourage, flatter, give joy, humiliate, depress or destroy. Every word has a meaning.

 

A mantra is composed of letters forming a word. Mantras are powerful regulators of the mind. Moreover, a mantra connects one to its corresponding subject. There are countless mantras serving countless purposes. Then there is the Maha Mantra, the one mantra to rule them all.

 

The eternal Vedic scriptures decide which mantra is the highest. Man, prone to errors cannot determine that. Different sources cite the Hare Krishna mantra as the one mantra that effortlessly connects us to the Supreme Bliss. Want proof of it?  The Krishna temple in Zürich on Sunday the 20^th saw a spirited celebration of the one year anniversary of the Gaura Prema group.

 

Madhava, the lead singer, and the others sang different tunes of the one Hare Krishna mantra for one and a half hours. Between 120 and 150 people eagerly participated. During the last half hour Madhava urged every one to get up and dance. The music entered the ears, gladdened the heart and got in the feet; every one rocked.

 

You had to be there. If you have faith you will understand the power of the three words, Hare, Krishna and Rama. No explanation is needed. If you are new and unsure, come and try it out anyway. The mantra, being timeless and non-sectarian, touches your soul. You just need an open heart and a voice for singing.
